At Calm Canine Companion (CCC), we believe in absolute transparency with our readers. This page outlines how this website functions commercially and our commitment to maintaining independent, honest editorial standards.
How CCC Earns Revenue
Calm Canine Companion is an independent, content-first website funded primarily through affiliate marketing relationships.
When you read our articles or browse our product directory, you will find links to third-party suppliers, services, and online retailers (such as Amazon or Butternut Box). If you click on one of these links and make a qualifying purchase, the retailer pays us a small commission.
This commission is paid entirely by the retailer and comes at absolutely no extra cost to you. In many cases, our partnerships allow us to offer you exclusive reader discounts, such as our Butternut Box Ambassador invitation, which provides 50% off your first two boxes.
Our Strict Editorial Integrity Promise
Many affiliate websites recommend products simply because they pay the highest commission. At Calm Canine Companion, we operate under a strict ethical charter: commercial opportunity never dictates our editorial recommendations.
Before any product or service receives a positive mention on this website, it must pass our rigorous assessment:
- Relevance & Quality: It must provide a genuine benefit or solve a recognizable problem for ordinary dog owners.
- Experience vs. Research: We clearly distinguish between products Gerry Turner has personally used over his 45+ years of dog handling and products we have thoroughly researched as viable options. We will never claim first-hand testing where none exists.
- Unbiased Reviews: Our reviews aim to identify meaningful disadvantages as well as advantages. We reserve the right to criticize or withdraw a recommendation regardless of any financial relationship.
- The Friendship Test: If we would not comfortably recommend a product to a personal friend or use it for our own dogs without a commission, it will never be recommended on this site.
Key Affiliate Programs We Use
To provide a broad range of helpful solutions, we seek a diversified portfolio of trusted suppliers across our seven core categories, rather than relying on a single retailer:
- The Butternut Box Ambassador Program: As an approved brand ambassador, we receive a fixed referral commission when UK and Irish readers sign up for a fresh food subscription using our links.
- Amazon Associates Program: Calm Canine Companion is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.
- Vetted Independent Suppliers: We may occasionally feature links to independent canine educational platforms, digital course creators, or specialized gear manufacturers.
